Following the joint kick-off event in January, the AVATAR consortium began in-depth project work. The technical methods for anonymization developed in the project will ultimately be demonstrated in five different use cases. At the same time, AVATAR partners are researching which sociological factors influence the acceptance and willingness to donate data and which GDPR-compliant solutions can enable data sharing. In addition, a monthly legal consultation hour has been set up in which Prof. Hans-Hermann Dirksen from Partner Liebenstein Law advises the consortium throughout the project. This ensures that all project partners always receive up-to-date information on the legally compliant handling of health data.
The large AVATAR consortium meeting on August 30th in Berlin and several workshops throughout the year provided opportunities for in-depth exchange within the consortium and with the associated projects PATH, NEMO, Medinym and KI-AIM. At the same time, the cluster opened up to scientists from external research institutions, companies and interested members of the public. The project was also presented and discussed at MEDICA, the leading trade fair for the medical sector, and recently at the German government's digital summit.
From 2024, an ‘Open Science Lab’ will be set up in the office of the network coordinator medways e.V., in which AVATAR project results will be presented to the interested public and specialist audiences. The concepts required for this were specified in 2023 and the necessary technical equipment was procured.
